How to Write an About Us Page That Wins Trust

When you build a new website, you obsess over the homepage. You stress over the logo. You write 10 amazing blog posts.

And then, as an afterthought, you spend 5 minutes throwing together a generic "About Us" page that says: "We are a team of passionate writers dedicated to providing the best news."

Stop. You just flagged your own site as "Low Quality."

In 2025, the "About Us" page is not a vanity project. It is a trust signal for SEO. Google needs to know who you are. If they can’t verify that a real human is behind the screen, they assume you are a bot farm, and they will reject your AdSense application.

Here is the blueprint for turning your About page from a liability into an asset.

The "Ghost" Problem (Why Google Rejects You)

Google operates on a principle called E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness).

Imagine a website offering medical advice, but with no author's name, photo, or address. Would you trust it? No. Neither does Google.

If your website looks like a "Ghost Town"—no names, no faces, no physical location—you fail the website credibility checklist.

I have seen countless sites get rejected for "Low Value Content" simply because they were anonymous. The moment they added a real photo and a backstory, they got approved.

The Perfect About Us Page Template

You don't need to write a novel. You need to answer three questions for the Googlebot (and your readers).

1. The "Who" (Identity Verification)

Stop saying "We." If it’s just you, say "I."

  1. Bad: "Our team consists of industry experts." (Vague, suspicious).
  2. Good: "Hi, I'm John. I've been a web developer for 7 years, and I built this site to help beginners fix code errors."

Action Step: Include a real photo of yourself. Not a logo. Not a stock photo of a guy in a suit shaking hands. A real photo of you.

2. The "Why" (Experience & Expertise)

Google wants to know why you are qualified to write about this topic. This is the "Experience" part of Google E-E-A-T guidelines.

If you have a gardening blog, mention that you’ve killed 50 plants before finally growing the perfect tomato. If you have a tech blog, be sure to mention your certification or years of coding experience.

  1. Pro Tip: If you have any credentials (degrees, awards, certifications), list them here. These are powerful trust signals.

3. The "Where" (Physical Presence)

This is controversial, but it works. AdSense loves physical addresses.

You don't have to put your home address. But having a "Based in [City, Country]" helps. If you have a business address or a PO Box, put it in the footer or the About page. It proves you exist in the physical world, which helps with Identity verification for AdSense later on.

Bonus: The Author Bio Box

Your "About" page is the hub, but your blog posts are the spokes.

Does every single blog post have an Author Bio at the bottom? If not, fix it now.

Google’s crawler links the content to the creator. If your posts are written by "Admin," you are hurting your rankings. Change "Admin" to your name.

Author Bio Example: "Sarah is a certified nutritionist with 5 years of experience in keto diets. She has been featured in HealthMag and DailyFitness."

The Technical Signal: Person Schema

If you want to get really advanced, you can use something called Schema Markup.

This is invisible code that tells Google: "Hey, this website is owned by a real person named [Name]."

Most SEO plugins (like RankMath or Yoast) do this for you automatically. Just make sure you go into the plugin settings and fill out the "Knowledge Graph" section with your name and logo.

Summary

Your About Us page is your digital ID card.

Don't hide behind a generic "We." Be proud of your work. Show your face. Tell your story.

When Google sees a real human taking responsibility for the content, they are much more likely to trust you with their advertisers' money.
